Coffee Expos & Conventions Worth Knowing About

Trade shows are where gear, training, and green coffee sourcing actually get decided. You can put your hands on the machine before you spend five figures on it. Because organizers move dates and cities from year to year, we're keeping this page to what stays true year over year: what each event is, who runs it, and where to check current dates yourself.

Directory

North America · Annual

World of Coffee (formerly Specialty Coffee Expo)

The Specialty Coffee Association's flagship North American trade show, now folded into its global World of Coffee brand alongside sister events in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. The largest general-purpose coffee trade show most U.S. readers will attend, equipment, green coffee, and packaging all under one roof.

Multiple U.S. Cities · Recurring

Coffee Fest

A touring trade show that runs multiple U.S. editions per year (recent cities have included Los Angeles, Dallas–Fort Worth, New York, and Chicago), aimed squarely at café owners and operators sourcing equipment and suppliers regionally rather than traveling internationally.

United States · Annual

NCA Annual Convention

The National Coffee Association's yearly convention focuses on industry policy, market research, and supply-chain networking rather than a retail-facing expo floor, most useful for roasters, importers, and larger operators rather than a first-time cart or shop owner.

Global · Rotating Host City

World Coffee Championships

A set of seven annual skills-based competitions, including the World Barista Championship, World Brewers Cup, World Latte Art Championship, and World Coffee Roasting Championship, hosted alongside World of Coffee events on a rotating international schedule. Free to spectate in most cases and genuinely worth building a trip around if you're serious about technique.

Melbourne, Australia · Annual

Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE)

Asia-Pacific's largest coffee trade show, and Melbourne has a strong claim to being the world's most café-dense city, so this doubles as an unmatched opportunity to see specialty coffee culture at street level, not just on a trade floor. Draws 30,000+ attendees in recent years across exhibitors, café-owner education, and roasting-focused programming.

Trieste, Italy · Biennial

Triestespresso Expo

The only global trade fair dedicated entirely to the espresso supply chain, held in Trieste, a city that genuinely brands itself Italy's coffee capital. Runs every other year (odd years), heavier on equipment manufacturing and industrial roasting than the consumer-facing shows, most relevant if you're sourcing commercial machines or green coffee at scale rather than shopping for a home setup.

Milan, Italy · Biennial

HostMilano

Not a coffee-specific show, it's a massive hospitality and foodservice expo covering everything from bakery equipment to tableware, but its coffee-and-bar category is large enough that major espresso machine manufacturers treat it as a primary launch venue. Worth knowing about if you want to see new commercial equipment in a broader HoReCa context rather than an all-coffee floor.

Seoul, South Korea · Annual

Cafe Show Seoul

Running since 2002, one of the largest coffee, tea, and dessert trade shows in the world by exhibitor count, and a genuine window into how fast South Korea's specialty coffee scene has grown. Pairs with the Seoul Coffee Festival and the World Coffee Leaders Forum in the same week, worth the trip if you want a serious look at the Asian market specifically rather than the more Australia-centric view MICE gives.

Amsterdam, Netherlands · Annual

Amsterdam Coffee Festival

A consumer-and-professional hybrid celebrating the Netherlands' specialty coffee culture, live roasting demos, barista competitions, and a genuinely festival-like atmosphere rather than a pure trade floor. A good entry point if a full trade show feels like overkill for where you are right now.

Nordic Region · Annual

Nordic Coffee Fest

Held in Gothenburg, Sweden, and built around Nordic coffee culture specifically, a region known internationally for lighter roast profiles and a strong filter-coffee tradition distinct from the espresso-forward focus of the Italian shows above. Smaller and more focused than the major international expos, useful if that specific brewing tradition is what you're actually trying to learn from.

This list intentionally isn't exhaustive, there are dozens of smaller regional coffee festivals worldwide (Nordic Coffee Fest, Athens Coffee Festival, Roast Summit's various city editions, and many national-level shows) that can be worth attending for local sourcing or a specific niche interest, even if they don't have the international profile of the events above.

Worth knowing

What Actually Happens on the Floor

Equipment manufacturers sometimes use these shows to launch new machines and offer show-only pricing, this isn't guaranteed at every show or from every brand, but it's worth checking exhibitor lists in advance if you're shopping for anything in our espresso machine or roasting equipment guides.

Many expos offer a free "exhibits only" badge alongside paid workshop and education tracks, check each event's own registration page since this varies by show. If you're mainly there to see equipment, the free badge is often enough, save the paid tracks for certification-specific training covered in our training programs guide.

Dates change, always confirm directly

We intentionally don't publish specific dates or venues on this page, since organizers shift both from year to year and a stale date does you more harm than no date at all. Visit each organizer's official site for the current schedule before booking travel.
